One of my favorite locations inside Community Synagogue, Sands Point, is the glass wall in the main sanctuary. In Winter if there is snow on the ground, it provides the perfect element for a silhouette. A silhouette is a dark shape against a light background, thus, the snow was perfectly placed. If it was Summer, depending on the light, I would try this a different way. When I am making bar/bat mitzvah, family portraits, even if I have been to a place several times,I like to think on my feet as I go. I do prepare with enough lighting equipment to handle any situation and it is the natural reflex to be extemporaneous that brings out the artsy creative photos.
