Volunteer Photography in New York – Feeding the Homeless Thanksgiving 2017 – with the 73rd Precinct – Community Affairs, Brownsville, Brooklyn and @latenightjustice
This year, Thanksgiving started one day early, in Little Neck, Queens, at a ristorante named Il Bacco. The manager, Maurizio, arranged for @latenightjustice to get enough food to feed 200 people – at cost. When we arrived he would not take any money. Over the years, from time to time, I have volunteered as a photographer locally – at the Community Chest, specifically for the Neighbors In Need program. This is how @latenightjustice and I came to work together. Both organizations aim to help those in need. N Y State Troopers Marine Corps. Association and through mutual connections I found myself documenting this day: Feeding 200 people at a family shelter in Brownsville and depicting law enforcement creating good relationships with those people in the community. A group of youth volunteers were helping serve food. They are know as “Explorers”- local teens who have expressed a desire for a future in law enforcement, and are pictured here with Community Affairs Officer from the 73rd Pct. P.O. Keith Jemmott. The food was prepared and donated by Il Bacco in Little Neck
